If this young man is willing to learn about true Christianity and willingly becomes a Christian, not just because he wants to marry you but because he truly believes, then date and learn the Bible together.
But remember that if he isn't willing to change now (on any matter, not just religion) when he has every incentive to impress you, then know that he won't change after marriage.
People usually date in hopes of finding a future spouse and this is probably what has your parents concerned.
Are you someone who follows Jesus, or do you just call him Lord without doing God’s will in your life?
Are you sure that you will have eternal life when you die?
"And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy" (I Corinthians -14).
